Outdoor archery on the Sunshine Coast, shot at Sherwood Forest Range - a dedicated outdoor target range, not a net strung across a function room. You shoot outside, in real light, at real distance, which is most of what makes it satisfying.

Archery is the great leveller. Nobody in the group has done it before, physical strength barely helps, and the quiet focus of it is a genuine change of pace. It works across a wider age range than anything else we run, from 8 years upward, which is why it is the activity families book first and the one corporate groups ask to repeat.

Every session is coached from the first arrow, with draw weights set to suit each person. Most people are on the target within ten minutes - which is when the competition starts.

  • RecurveThe classic. What most people picture, and what most people start on.
  • CompoundGeared, easier to hold at full draw, and unexpectedly accurate for a beginner.

  • Bullseye challengeStraight scoring. Highest total takes it.

Essential info & safety

  • Enclosed shoes are mandatory.
  • Minimum age 8.
  • Long sleeves are worth considering - a string can catch a forearm.
  • Tie back long hair and leave loose jewellery in the car.
  • The range is outdoors; bring a hat and insect repellent.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before your session.

Archery is shot at Sherwood Forest Range, our dedicated outdoor target range. Your instructor meets you at the briefing point and walks you over, so you do not need to find it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is archery suitable for beginners?
It is designed for them. Every session is coached from the first arrow and draw weights are set per person, so nobody is fighting a bow that is too heavy for them.
What is the minimum age?
Eight years old. It is the most age-flexible activity we run, which is why it suits mixed family groups better than the others.
Recurve or compound - which should I choose?
Start on a recurve. It is the classic and it teaches the form. Compound bows are geared, easier to hold at full draw and flatter shooting, so most people try both in a session.
Where exactly is the range?
Archery runs at Sherwood Forest Range. You meet at XperiencesHQ and your instructor walks you over - it is about a minute.
Can you bring archery to us?
Yes. Archery is fully transportable, needs no range permit, and is one of our most requested mobile activities - it also runs at our Tuchekoi property.
What should I wear?
Enclosed shoes, clothing you can move in, and ideally long sleeves. Tie back long hair and leave loose jewellery behind.
