Axe Throwing

Outdoor lanes, coached technique, and the sound when it lands.

Duration1 hr
Price$45 pp
Ages12+

Axe throwing on the Sunshine Coast, outdoors. That distinction matters more than it sounds: most axe throwing in Australia happens in a warehouse under fluorescent light, and ours happens in the open air on dedicated lanes inside our Twin Waters arena. Same satisfying thunk, considerably better afternoon.

It is the most immediately gratifying thing on the site and the easiest to explain - you throw, it sticks, everyone within earshot turns around. It is also technique over strength, which is why the person nobody expected usually tops the scoreboard.

Lanes are supervised at all times by a lane marshal who runs the rotation, coaches the technique and controls when anyone walks forward to retrieve. Nobody throws while anyone is past the line.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it indoors or outdoors?
Outdoors, on dedicated lanes inside our Twin Waters arena. Most axe throwing venues are indoor warehouses - this is not one.
What is the minimum age?
Twelve years old. Lanes take up to six people each, so larger groups rotate.
Is it safe?
Lanes are supervised at all times by a marshal who controls the rotation and the retrieval. Nobody throws while anyone is forward of the line, and every session opens with a full safety briefing.
Do I need to be strong?
No. It is technique - grip, stance and release. A well-thrown light axe beats a badly thrown heavy one every time, which is the whole reason it works as a group activity.
Is it good for a bucks or hens party?
It is the most-booked activity for those groups, usually paired with paintball. Add the BBQ zone afterwards and you have the afternoon covered.
Can you bring it to our venue?
Yes, subject to a suitable space and backstop. Send us a photo of the area and we will tell you whether it will work.
